You Can Now Trade the New and Improved KLCI Options (OKLI)

FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Options (OKLI)

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad (BMD) has launched a new and improved FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Options or OKLI, the options contract which was first introduced in December 2000.

It was the first exchange-traded options contract in Malaysia and used the FBM KLCI cash index as its underlying instrument. The revamped version however uses FBM KLCI futures (FKLI) as its underlying instrument to provide traders with more efficient hedging, arbitraging and trading choices.

According to Bursa Malaysia, options are highly versatile instruments that provide flexibility for various trading strategies, and can offer trading opportunities even during non-volatile market conditions. Increased volume from the new trading activities is expected as options can be actively used to complement investments in the futures and the equity market.

Trading of the OKLI contracts began on Monday (21 May 2012) with a total of 27 (15 call and 12 put) options contracts traded. It is listed and traded on the CME Globex electronic trading platform.
